Mexican Green Smoothie

Mexican Green Smoothie

If you are looking for a way to start your day with a burst of energy and flavor, try this Mexican green smoothie recipe. It is inspired by the smoothies I enjoyed in Sayulita, Mexico, where I spent some time reconnecting with myself and nature. This smoothie is packed with fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs that will nourish your body and soul. It has a tropical taste with a hint of spice from the jalapeño pepper. It is also vegan and gluten-free, so you can enjoy it without any guilt.

Ingredients

To make this smoothie, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of fresh cilantro, small stems ok
  • 1 large lime, juiced
  • 1 cup of pineapple chunks
  • 1 small Turkish cucumber, cubed (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 banana, frozen is great
  • 1 cup of baby kale, optional
  • 3 slices of jalapeño pepper, or more to taste
  • A couple of ice cubes
  • Chia seeds, optional

Instructions

Making this smoothie is very easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Add all the ingredients except the chia seeds to a blender and blend until smooth. You may need to add a tablespoon of water if the blender gets stuck.
  2. Add some ice cubes to the blender to make it cold (or use frozen bananas or pineapple).
  3. Divide the smoothie into two glasses and sprinkle some chia seeds on top if you like.
  4. Enjoy your refreshing Mexican green smoothie!

Tips and Variations

You can customize this smoothie to your liking by using different fruits, vegetables and herbs. Here are some ideas:

  • Use basil or parsley instead of cilantro for a different flavor.
  • Add some Nopales, an edible cactus that I loved in Mexico, if you can find it.
  • Use spinach or other leafy greens instead of kale.
  • Add some protein powder or yogurt for extra protein and creaminess.
  • Use mango or papaya instead of pineapple for a sweeter taste.

I hope you love this smoothie as much as I do. It reminds me of the sunny days in Mexico and helps me feel more connected to myself and nature. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
